EVO2 EVOLUTIONARY MATERIAL

Traditionally the wet end has had the choice of relatively inexpensive polyethylene dewatering wear surfaces or very expensive & vulnerable ceramic equivalents. Filled- polyethylene offers an interim stage which suits some applications, at a cost.

EVO2 is a new look at the subject of materials. It is not a filled-polyethylene (a plastic powder mixed with ceramic micro-beads). It is not intended to suit a selected range of problem applications. It is a universal new material that will suit every mill; every position on the table; and every wet end duty including the press section.

EVO2 is a true polyethylene alloy which will last at least four times longer than virgin UHMW polyethylene and filled Pe. Unlike vulnerable ceramic components, EVO2 is not subject to accidental impact damage; it does not suffer stress cracking or thermal shock damage. It does not sharpen under wire contact - in fact it effectively becomes "polished" by the wire or felt, and evolves a hardened surface that increases its efficiency. Because it lasts 4 times longer, it has a dramatic effect on machine downtime and therefore on increased production.

EVO2 IN THE FORMING ZONE

Ideal for forming boards, forming foils, and deckle control boards: not an area of conventionally heavy wear, but where sustained water control is vital to ensure good sheet formation.

Where problems of water retention and fibre disposition require special components, including the Perplas Lunds Turboform, EVO2 is even more effective, because it ensures that your investment in specially-designed components lasts that much longer.

EVO2 IN THE DEWATERING ZONE

Perfect for conventional foil blades, vacuum foils and all designs of suction-box top. In every position, coping with all vacuum levels, with all wire speeds and stock compounds. Four times longer life means significant production benefits.




EVO2 IN THE PRESS SECTION

Of all the possible applications, uhle box covers enjoy the greatest benefits. Seemingly unaffected by the felt type and by the abrasive contact, EVO2 not only lasts dramatically longer than polyethylene, but may have a beneficial effect on felt life.

Our own high-quality specially-formulated virgin-polyethylene and ceramic-filled polyethylene are still available for mills where they have run successfully for many years, or for customers who opt to delay trying EVO2.


CASE HISTORIES

In more than 20 mills throughout Europe, EVO2 has been tested under production conditions - making tissue, kraft, fluting, linerboard, writing grades, newsprint, etc, at machines speeds from 300m/min upwards. When compared to the life of the previous dewatering component, EVO2 has lasted from 400% longer to over 600% longer. The same extended life applies to forming boards, foils, foil blades, suction box tops and felt suction box covers. In some mills EVO2 has been running for 18 months so far, and the full life extension cannot yet be quantified.

During true mill operation, three successive identical gravity foils were installed in the same early-table position, and run until worn out. The mill was running recycled waste furnish at 330 metres/minute, with no additional filters.
